Thank you, veterans

Thank you to all our veterans! We appreciate the freedoms you have given us, including the ability to pursue higher education. You rock! Are there any veterans who are atttending/have attended TCC reading "Inside Out"? If so, say "hi" if you have time. I'd love to hear how you are celebrating.

@ Best of TCC

It is pretty cool to see how TCC has affected Northeastern Okla. We have people from all kinds of occupations here tonight. Two are from St. John, one from SeekingSitters, one from Bartlesville schools....fun!

TCC Alumni Link: Join it, love it, win stuff

http://www.tccalumnilink.com/

TCC President Tom McKeon is one busy guy, running one of the largest community colleges in the country with 30,000 students and all. But, I got on his calendar this morning so that he could personally invite TCC alumni (via video) to join TCC Alumni Link--TCC's effort to build its connection with alumni.

TCC has launched a website, TCCAlumniLink.com, and a social media campaign (Facebook and Twitter) to get alumni in touch with each other and the College. Signing up to join Alumni Link gets you in the drawing for great prizes, including Visa gift cards and iPads. In fact, Sarah Johnson of Tulsa is our first iPad winner.

And, who knows? Maybe you will find the long lost buddy you sat next to in chemistry class.

Look for McKeon's invitation to you later this week on Inside Out.

Summer hours at TCC

TCC is closed this summer on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays to save money on energy usage and costs, which results in 10-hour days for employees as well as three-day weekends. It's nice to have Fridays off in the summer, but the 10-hour days take some getting used to. This is the second week of the transition.

This is the second summer in a row for TCC to have alternate summer hours. All campuses are open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays, and regular business hours resume Aug. 1.

How do you feel about TCC going green in the summer?

The Best!

The amount of people who have graduated from TCC is astounding--45,000 approximately. I have been taking photos of 24 of our most distinguished graduates for the past several weeks. These select few are being honored as 2011 Best of TCC, and they will have an evening devoted to them May 25 at the Renaissance Tulsa Hotel.

They are teachers, managers, directors and health care professionals. It has been great getting to meet these everyday people who have accomplished extraordinary success. It's obvious they are passionate about their careers--whether they care for infants or work for the cities in which they live.

If you know someone who is a 2011 honoree or is a past honoree, share their great qualities here in the comments section.

Best of TCC, May 25, Renaissance Tulsa Hotel. Info: 595-7836. Tickets: $40.

I have gotten some great interviews with graduates, which will be posted here on Monday afternoon. Also, you can check out the graduation photo slide show Monday at www.tulsacc.edu.

Have a great night everyone, and congratulations to the 2011 grads!
